Nigerian dishes are a pride, its hard to meet a Nigerian who isn't big on food and it was even harder to pick three of the most eaten dishes in Nigeria.
1:Rice- Nigerians love rice and literally can't do without it.So the same way having turkey during thanksgiving in America is necessary, its the same way every Nigerian family cooks rice on Sunday's it has just become part of the culture, thats how much Nigerians eat rice and lets not even talk about how many times they eat rice during the week. Now rice can be eaten in different forms
-white rice and stew:This basically is boiled white rice and the stew could range form basic tomato stew to any sauce. The stew is a mix of tomato, pepper and spices such as ginger, garlic and more.Usually cooked with chicken ,fish or beef for a unique taste it just depends on how the cook feels at the moment.

-Jollof rice: Jollof rice is the mother of all Nigerian dishes. Jollof rice is food to many West African countries but the way Nigerians like jollof rice and have taken it up as an artistry one would think the food originated from Nigeria.Tasting it might also lad you to believe that because it is yummy, spicy and rich in taste. It can be eaten plain or with coleslaw or plantains on the side. There is also another form of jollof rice called NATIVE JOLLOF RICE.
Side note:You can get the best Jollof rice at parties. Its called aka(PARTY JOLLOF)

Rice can also be turned to Fried rice, coconut rice, ofada rice and more.Nigerians usually jump in sight to Ofada rice because of how unique it is.
2:Garri-Garri would pass as the king in the land of Nigerian dishes, as it is a household food in almost all Nigerian homes. There is a popular joke in Nigeria that, though Garrisons has no advert placement, yet it sell more than other food products that are advertised.Garri comes in two forms White and Yellow garri and when mixed with hot water, becomes 'Eba' and can be served with all kinds of stews and soups(Efo,Egusi,Okro,Ewedu and other kinds of soup).

3:Pounded yam-Pounded yam is one of the most popular dishes in Nigeria. Its made with Yam,which is widely available, is boiled and pounded into a smooth mash.It can be served with all kinds of soup but is best served with Egusi soup.Although the Yoruba people are known to be fond of punted yam, some other Nigerian ethic groups like Ibo's consume it especially during occasions such as the celebration of the New Yam Festival.
